Yering Farm Wines receive honours at the annual French - Australian wine show Le Concours des Vins du Victoria. The competition, now in its 14th year, is sponsored by the French - Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Led by leading French winemaker and administrator René Renou, a panel of French and Australian judges apply their years of knowledge and expertise to the judging field.

Upholding the Yarra Valley's reputation as a premier wine producer, boutique winery Yering Farm Wines won the Alstrom Trophy for 'Best White Wine in Show' and the Facci Trophy for 'Best Wine in Show', together with Gold and Silver medals.

"To be judged by wine experts from France and have your wines before some of the world's most experienced winemakers is an honour, but to win trophies, has been a phenomenal achievement for us" said Yering Farm winemaker Alan Johns.

"Winning Gold and Silver medals for our 2003 Chardonnay and 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is just fabulous, but to win not one, but two trophies and be voted as having the Best Wine in the show is an incredible result. We at Yering Farm are absolutely delighted."

René Renou is the President of the Appellation Control Board of France and understands the importance of terroir in making great wines. This French based concept stresses that the quality of a vineyard will largely determine the quality of the final wine.

From the low-yeilding, non-irregated, single vineyard, Yering Farm is producing white and red wines with an exceptional depth of flavour and richness, expressive of their own terroir.

As a family owned and run business, each stage of production is carefully controlled by the hands-on approach Alan Johns practices. His ability to produce good fruit is a skill that extends through his wines - wonderfully soft and elegant examples of the region's classic styles.
